If you are possibly open to considering a guided tour, which I feel will add much more to the experience of visiting Terezin than self-guiding (unless you are very well read on the topic), I highly recommend Wittmann Tours from Prague. I have taken the Terezin tour twice with them, once in 2007 (alone) and again with my wife in 2015. The second time, our guide was "Helen", a long-time Wittmann tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Terezin and, along with her husband, authored a book about one of the survivors whom they had gotten to know. From our 2015 email confirmation, the details were: "Place - Wittmann Tours Meeting Point (small plaza in front of the Intercontinental Hotel, Parizska street); Time - 10:00 AM; Duration - approx. 6 hours; the tour returns to the meeting point no later than 4:00PM; Price includes transportation, guiding services and entrance fees) The tour of Terezin includes a visit to the Terezin Museum, the Magdeburg Barracks, the Hidden Synagogue, and the Small Fortress (the former Gestapo prison). Payment: in cash Czech Crowns only." I just checked and the price is now 1700 CZK or 1500 CZK for students. Considering that for about $80 U.S./person they drive you there, spend 4-5 hours guiding you, cover entrance fees, and then drive you back to the meeting point in Prague, it is a pretty good deal and no worries with public transport and bus schedules. There is a little lunch room in the Museum where you can buy a sausage sandwich, snack, drink, etc. Very minimal but at least you can eat something and not have to look elsewhere.
