Day trip from Prague to Kutna Hora

We wish to take the train from Prague hl.n to Kutna Hora. Rick advises to purchase a ticket that goes directly to Kutna Hora Mesto instead of Kutna Hora hl.n. How does that work? It seems that only might work on the weekend trains.

We would like to see the Bone Church in Sedlect first and then go to the town of Kutna Hora to see the mining museum and St. Barbara's church, etc. How exactly would we best do that? Can we get off at Kutna Hora hl.n and walk to the bone church and then catch the train in Sedlec to go to Kurtna Hora mesto?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about adding the additional shuttle into town, but we did this a few years back on foot. About 1/3 mile from the Sedlec station to the Ossuary, 1.6 miles (not uphill!) through town to the silver mine, and then wind back through town .7 miles to the train. Adding St Barbara's adds about .6 mile more.

Since you would have to walk back to the Sedlec station and then walk in from Mesto, if this can be done it only saves 6/10 of a mile of walking (1.6 miles from the Ossuary to the mine, but using the trains means 1/3 mile back to Sedlec and then .7 miles from Mesto to the mine). I don't know if the fare structure is still the same, but we bought this as a pair of return tickets, and as a pair - the 2 discounts made this about $13.50 US.

I can see why Rick Steves suggests Kutna Hora Mesto because its more central but if you know how the trains run then you'll understand that coming from Prague you will likely first stop at Kutna Hora hl.n. That's because you change there for the other line that takes you to Kutna Hora Mesto. But if you are going to change then it makes sense just to go one stop to Sedlec where you get off to see the Bone Church and then walk from there into the centre. When you leave the town you do the reverse i.e. go back to Kutna Hora hl.n and change to the train going back to Prague.
