I think 1.5 days, 2 nights, is about right for Cesky Krumlov. It's pretty, but it's really small.

We enjoyed the evening barge tour on the river loop (includes wine) that goes all the way around the center city.

Sometimes places are good enough to overcome the tourism. Cesky Krumlov and Dubrovnik are two such places for me. Cant say why exactly. So 2, 3 or ever 4 days ... I wouldnt have an issue. Because we did CK as a same-day runout from Prague (car service recommended by Rick), we didn't need other attractions. I was sorry to miss the "Three 'T'" towns in a similar direction. But transport is an issue.

We enjoyed CK, especially the Baroque Theater (in English) tour, which does sell out quickly. Because I was in show business, I enjoyed it much more than the "castle" tour. While I consider CK a must-see (a few on this board do not ... ), I personally would not spend the night there, if I can afford same-day transport.

Our driver recommended a 90-minute guided tour (yes, I know, his brother in law! ... ), but it was both good, and the guide bought our theater tour tickets from the Czech babička who either could not or would not understand my English/German/French request, before we met the guide. I imagine you can get them online these days(?)

We rented a car in Prague and drove to Cesky Krumlov and LOVED it. We stayed at the Castle View Apartments…..and our room was lovely….big, right on the central square of this town where all cars had to be parked outside the old city in lots. I do remember that each morning we were serves an incredible breakfast at a larger hotel down the street that had a wonderful buffet….and someone waiting to serve your eggs exactly as you ordered them. We loved walking this charming town and visiting the local shops.

We stayed two nights at a hotel that backed up to the river. Late in the afternoon we would sit outside on our balcony and watch the people on the river . We wished that we would have floated down the river one day. We walked around town and toured the castle including one of the inside tours and the theatre. Great time.
