My husband and I are going to Czech Republic in a month (yikes!) as a last minute trip. I was trying to follow the outline in Rick Steves Prague book, and am having trouble with the buses/trains for the 12 day trip by bus and train. Specifically, going from Prague to Cesky Krumlov (think have this figured out) to telc via trebon to olomouc via trebic, then returning to prague. do you have any tips on public transportation? Any help would be appreciated on booking bus/train.
It's easy enough to get to Český Krumlov from Prague by train, but the return trip times are inconvenient for a day trip return. I returned to Prague on the bus, which was fine. Unfortunately I can't help you with the other destinations in Czechia.
Make sure you use the railway website at https://www.cd.cz/en/ to check schedules and routing. Their app, Můj vlak (My Train), is excellent also.
We would be spending the night in Cesky Krumlov. It's the next stop that is causing me some challenges on planning-- Cesky Krumlov to Telc via Trebon (per the RS guidebook). Any thoughts?
CK Shuttle offers van service between Prague and Cesky Krumlov. They also offer private transfers from CK to Telc [and many other locations], which you can configure as a scenic private transfer. We used them years ago between Prague, CK and Vienna and had a great experience.
