Czech Medical Insurance

We will be visiting Prague for about 5 days during and after a river cruise. Our cruise company informed us that we must have proof of $38,000 medical insurance for each of us. Our Travel Guard policy does not cover this amount. What have you all done to satisfy this requirement? Thanks in advance. Arlene

Contact the insurer and pay for increased coverage.

There is no "minimum" amount here. The Czechs will cover emergency treatment i.e. to save your life but after that you pay for the recovery period. This is what the insurance generally covers so you should be looking at repatriation insurance cost as well. In Czech you would not be dealing directly with the hospital either. You go through what is called a Guarantor i.e. a private company like CMC or Unicare. Then the hospital bills the Guarantor and the Guarantor deals with the insurance company. Hope that helps.
