Cesky Krumlov to Olomouc

Any fast way to get from CK to Olomouc without a ton of transfers? Perhaps CK to Prague then to Olomouc- any ideas?

Yeah, that might be easiest - taking the train back to Prague - instead of a bunch of bus transfers. Driving is pretty easy there if you don't mind renting a car. I did it the opposite way a few years ago. I started in Olomouc, took a bus to Brno, and then rented a car there (because I couldn't find a decent one to rent in Olomouc) and drove to CK and eventually to Prague over several days. Obviously renting a car just for a few hours to drive from one place to the other makes no sense.

I see an 8:14 AM departure that gets you to Olomouc at 1:46 PM after changes in Ceske Budejovice (5 min.) and Prague (15 min.). There are a few options later in the day that shave about 20 minutes off the total time, including a one-change (13 min., in Prague) trip departing at 2:07 PM.

I checked on the Deutsche Bahn website: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml . Sorry I can't turn that into a clickable link. Don't know how to do that on my tablet. [Cool: The URL turned into a link automatically.]

Amazing that you can change trains in such a short time-obviously things are well marked?? In English?

Well, English isn't needed, really. You are looking for town names. ("Praha" is the Czech spelling of Prague). Otherwise, the rest of the signage is obvious. I've never had trouble navigating European train stations, and I speak/read only English. (In places like Russia where Cyrillic is used, it can be more challenging, though!)

Ceske B. will be a relatively small station. Personally, I wouldn't plan a 5-minute change in a place like Prague. Any time I suspect I'll have to deal with stairs (happens all too often), I look at connection times when I'm choosing which departure I will take. If time is tight, I get off the train with my ticket in my hand and hope to see a railroad employee on the platform who will point me to the correct track. Depending on the layout of the station, that can be faster than going in search of the departures board.

Ceske B, is small and 5 minutes will be fine, I was through there less than 2 weeks ago.Prague station is not huge but if you have to change platforms it is easy enough with a main spine where you will see info boards for the trains on each platform. There are also info post on the platforms but are not that obvious, and there is the huge info boards in the main part of the station,15 minutes is plenty

Most of the time two transfers by train and also by bus. Check http://www.idos.cz .You can switch it to English and put a combination of trains and buses. The fastest connection seems to be via Prague.

Thanks-all these tidbits of info make it a lot easier when in the actual situation!
