cesky krumlov st. wenceslas celebration

We will be in the Prague area Sept. 27-29 and are considering a trip to Cesky Krumlov. I believe there is a special celebration for St. Wenceslas at this time. Does anyone know what the celebration entails? Any suggestions on getting to Krumlov? We are considering a private driver (group of 4). Any recommendations? Thanks.

It sounds worthwhile (as the town is, anyway), though I just find these general descriptions online:

23.09.2016 - 28.09.2016 (Fr-We)

Český Krumlov – St. Wenceslas' Celebrations and International Folklore Festival – the programme includes folklore performances, traditional fair, historical cuisine and the very popular night of open museums and galleries. The celebrations include the International Folklore Festival that will enliven the streets of this historical city.

We happened upon this celebration last year on a day trip from Prague to CK. The festival consists of folk dance groups made up of children, adults or a combination. Lots of hand clapping, foot stomping music( the bands are live) and gorgeous costumes. It takes place in the main square of C K. Also great food, beer, and craft booths everywhere. So grab some grub and some suds and make some new friends at the communal tables. Our new friends were from Vienna. Just a great time. We also had time to tour the castle and walk around the rest of the town.

We made reservations on the big yellow buses of the Student Agency. The trip took about three hours. It left near the Andel metro stop ( the bus station is named differently -Na something-but it's right next to the n metro station) The website is a little clunky to use but we successfully made reservations before we left the US. Since the festival is on all the buses were running full so reservations were necessary. ( we tried to get on an earlier bus home but couldn't- it was full). The buses are clean and are supposed to have an open bathroom on board. This was the case when we went to CK but our return bus had a locked bathroom and my husband was floating by the time we returned to Prague

Anywhoo. Have a great time in Prague and CK.

Jennifer.

Seconding what Andrea said about CKshuttle -- you could hire an entire car, or share a car/van with pickup and delivery to your hotel. FYI, they plan a potty stop about halfway through the trip.
