Do we need to purchase tickets online in advance of visiting in late May? I see the prices, but I don't see a checkout.
Thanks in advance,
Judy
When we were there we just walked up, bought the tickets and we're in the next tour start time. We might have been lucky with timing, I don't know. The highlight of the tour was the theater.
Once in early May we just walked in and had our choice of everything on offer.
We went several years ago, and tickets weren't sold in advance of the sane-day back then. The English tours are less frequent, so they do sell out. Our guide bought paper tickets at the booth (Czech-only spoken by the seller) before our outdoor walking tour with him, which was helpful and effective. We also wanted to tour the Baroque Theater, which has fewer tours.
Not to quibble, but it's more of a chateau than a castle, speaking of European tours in general. It was mildewed and fine, but not a must-see. It's the town that counts.
Thanks all. I appreciate the input. We will only be there a 1/2 day, so sounds like we should pick one tour and spend the rest of the time in the town. Any suggestions regarding things to see in the town?
Dear Judy,
a very good option is to get a combined Old Town&Castle interior tour in English, which runs daily except Mondays at 13:30 and starts at the main square in front of Tourist Office Infocentrum. You can purchase the tickets at this TI office or in Cesky krumlov hotels. This way you needn't worry about purchasing the castle interior tickets in advance. The whole tour incl. the castle interiors takes 2.5 hours.
