Central Europe weather

I’m trying to decide if I want to take the Central Europe tour from late April to early May, or the Spain tour from late March to early April. I’m leaning toward Central Europe (Prague, Krakow, Budapest, etc) but I’m concerned about having a lot of rain. Any thoughts on this?

My favorite site for weather is Weatherspark.com. Very detailed. Of course all the numbers mean little without a reference point so first look up your home town, then compare the places you are considering. That will give you some sort of reference.

It will be the wettest time time of the year in Prague, Budapest and Krakow; but substantially drier than my home town of San Antonio, Texas or New York City. It not just about how often, its how heavy and this is the time of year we get a monrning shower once a week. Lasts 2 hours, more like a drizzle than rain, then the sun comes out and life goes on. Very, very rarely ever heavy rains here.

But if your interest between the two trips is equal and weather is your only remaining criteria to break the tie, go to Spain I guess. It will be drier.

They are both extremely fast tours.

Just to note that we had a fairly dry April this year but both June and July began with the coolest and wettest conditions for these months seen in the last 40 years. Bring an umbrella and you'll enjoy any European city.

Jason, we had July days that required a top layer to be warm. Downright screwy. Rained maybe a few more days than usual but generally short and light rains and half the time late at night. Even hot days tge humidity rarely got above 25% so 90F was no sweat if you kept to the shady side of the street.

We went on the Eastern Europe tour the same time you are considering in 2019. It was a great tour for covering a large area full of history. The weather was all over the map…some rain, mostly dry, and even snow/slush in Plivitze park (we piled on the layers and enjoyed a great day without all the crowds on the boardwalks the this waterfall park is known for…so actually a positive experience). Packing with layers was the way to go. Hot to cold and wet to dry. Our guide was spectacular and we saw a broad portion of Europe that is not easy to travel across. Even spent three days in Venice and flew home from there. It is close to the end of the tour.

That said, Spain is always enjoyable and should have comfortable weather that early in the year. As MrE said if drier weather is a top concern go with Spain. Transportation between cities is easy and fast in Spain.
