So I'm about to book my tickets for 6 people traveling from Vienna to Prague. I've been comparing prices between oebb & cd as Seat61 suggests. I was finding the cd site a good deal lower than oebb. However, as I was doing some comparing between the two sites, I would back up on the cd.cz site to adjust information. When I did that and re-displayed the train schedule/price again, the price would go up. Everytime I did that the price went up. Sheesh! I know I just should have booked it the first go-round, but I didn't. So, I thought I'd clear my cookies, browsing history to see if that would clear cd's data? No luck. I'm suspect that cd perhaps track hits on a particular train and then up the price based on hits?? Or I have no clue! Has anyone run into this before? Any insight?
Maybe it's additional taxes on the Austrian side but if I were to travel from Vienna to Prague I would always book through OEBB. The reason is that if something has to be amended like date/time/seating you can just go to the station in Vienna and sort it out. If you book via CD then the guys in Austria will say sort it out with CD online. Likewise people going FROM Prague I always advise to book using CD for the same reason.
Probably always best to book your tickets on the origin country website for a number of reasons......
Jason & Mr E...thanks! Will do! Jason--my family and I are booked with you in Prague -- can hardly wait!
