I apologize for the auto-correct on the previous entry!
We are 3 seniors trying to decide between renting a car and spending 3-4 days out of Prague, vs. hiring a private driver or small group day/overnight tours. Not really interested in tour bus or train travel . Any suggestions? Is it easy to rent a car and pick up/return in Prague?

being a senior myself...I would rent a car. but I have driven in Europe before. Once you get into the country side driving is an absolute pleasure. renting at the airport was not bad. You get on a fourlane highway, get Prague in the rear view mirror and look for a small road to start exploring.
Personally, a train to Brno and then a car rental would put you in the midst of the greatest collection of rolling hills. The train ride is inexpensive, the train station is near the center of Prague and the main station Brno is also close to the main sactionof town.
Do you have a passenger that can read a map? That help enormously.
