Yes, correct. Simply enter "Prague" in the search field.

After entering your From and To locations, select either Search Connection or Book Ticket and you will see "Praha hl.n.". Thats the main Prague station on Wilsonova.

On the OBB main page, to the left of the fields where you enter your From and To locations you should see "Current Route Information" in red letters. Click on that and enter "Praha" in the search box, then select Praha hl.n from the list and the map will pin the main station on Wilsonova.

Try the Czech rail page https://www.cd.cz. I just bought Vienna-Prague. I not only found it easier to follow, but also less expensive for the same tickets, and seat reservations were included.

Larry beat me to it--use the Czech rail system. It's the same train, but less expensive.

For future reference, you shouldn't generally expect to find non-stop trains unless you're traveling between important cities that are quite close to each other. The express trains don't make a lot of stops, but usually there are some. If you're traveling from Vienna to Prague, that's about a 4-hour trip. I've checked the schedule, and on that route you'd probably have about 4 stops along the way. In some cases you'd need to change trains once; you can avoid that by choosing a direct train.

hello all, i found this forum is great,
we plan to travel in Europe starting from Vienna, Munich, Prague, Budapest, then back to Vienna, during 23.10 to 06.11.
i draft the plan with ChatGPT and realised the information suggested is not updated after reading your advices.
in general
1 use Czech Railways (ČD) to purchase all train tickets.
2, stations: Wien Hbf, Munich Hbf, Praha hl.n, and Budapest-Keleti pu
3. when can i start to purchase? in May? what shall i pay attention to?
4. planned to take flight from Prague to Budapest, but only saving 2 hours (2 hours layover). doesnt seem worthy.

correct above? everyone
thanks

1 use Czech Railways (ČD) to purchase all train tickets.

That isn't what is being said. Czech Railways can only sell you tickets for trains to, from or through Czechia. So for instance they can't sell Vienna to Munich or Budapest to Vienna tickets.

There are different schools of thought on this. Some swear by third party retailers like Trainline. Some say always buy from the train operator of the country of origin (so for Vienna to Munich- from OBB). Others say that DB (German Railways) is a good general source.

For my own preference I would buy Vienna to Munich and Munich to Prague from DB. And Prague to Budapest and Budapest to Vienna from MAV Start (Hungarian Railways). Thus two as opposed to three or maybe four companies. But there are multiple different permutations on that theme (if not using a 3rd party)

  1. when can i start to purchase? in May? what shall i pay attention to?

For travel in October most (if not all) of these tickets won't even be available in May, or until three months or less before travel. 4 to 6 weeks would be ample with this kind of itinerary.
Looking for 6 weeks today-
Vienna to Munich starts at €24.99 on DB, Munich to Prague at €52.00 on DB (448CSK/€18 on CD), Prague to Budapest 9348CSK/€37 on CD (€26 on MAV) and Budapest to Vienna from 13 to €25 on MAV.
