Beware of fraud

Wanted to share this with all of you.
My husband n I are travelling to Europe in May. We had booked a room at The Charles, Prague for three nights 4months back. We immediately got a confirmation from booking. Com & from. The hotel. Suddenly, last week, we got a mail saying that our credit card was declined. Our bankers said there was no record of it!!!. Anyway, we uploaded another card & once again got a confirmation from booking. Com saying it's been noted. However, we got a mail saying that the booking is cancelled. Upon checking, the hotel says that the second credit card has not been sent to to them by booking. Com. Now, booking. Com neither answers the phone nor bothers to answer and have washed their hands off. I am sharing this experience so that everyone can be careful while depending on booking. Com. Also, I am now getting to know from a friend that someone else too has had a similar experience at Charles.. Where they booked at a lower cost and closer to the date, as the tariffs increased, the hotel made a big fuss about the credit card etc.

Sounds like the problem is with the hotel, since you both had an issue there.

I have made a few hundred bookings with booking.com over the years, and have never had a problem. I have needed to call customer service only twice, and both times they resolved the problem within minutes, and called after check-in to make sure I was satisfied.

I would try and book elsewhere.i have used booking.com a lot and for hotels in Prague,in fact have a booking for Prague in a few weeks and another for june/july , never had problems with booking.com.
have you read the reviews of the Charles, not the best and sounds pretty noisy.

Words have meanings, and actions have consequences.

I am struggling to see how this can be called fraud - the word in the title of your post. Fraud is separation of a person from their money by deception. Where does it say that either booking.com or the hotel you speak badly of kept any of your money? If they have kept your money perhaps you would mention it?

Right; sounds like a problem with the hotel, and it's not fraud unless they billed you.

I've used booking.com for many trips and never had a problem. In fact, they were very helpful the one time I had difficulties reaching a B&B owner who wanted confirmation of our stay but wasn't returning my messages. I didn't call booking.com; I emailed them through the contact info on the website.

I'd just book a different property. If the Charles billed you for your reservations, call your credit card company and have them stop the charges (provide them with any cancellation messages you received from the accommodation).

You seem to be blaming Booking.com but "someone else too has had a similar experience at Charles". Sounds like that's the issue.
