Best way to go from Prague airport to hotel in Prague

What is the best transportation method to go from the Prague Airport to the city center? Taxi, bus, Uber? What is the estimated cost of each alternative? Will they take credit cards, US dollars, Euros or do you have to use local currency?

Thank you. Kenn

Depends…
Several years ago, husband and I went from city center to airport via public transfer. Very doable.

However, for our upcoming RS’tour, arriving at the airport after a 20 hour trip, and feeling more vulnerable as we age, we arranged for airport transfer to our hotel. We were able to charge 650 CZK for 2; about $30.

We will be using Welcome Pickups to travel from the airport to our hotel. The driver will contact us via text and will be waiting for us after baggage claim with a sign with our name. Cost is under $40.

I’m landing at 8:35 PM in Prague October 19 as a solo traveler. I’m thinking I might do taxi or prearranged pick up for the first time ever. It being late and dark is tipping me over I think.

Do you mind sharing Carol who you are using? I’ve heard of welcome pickups and will check them out too

I have only used Welcome Pickups and it was inexpensive and reliable. I am sure other forms of transport work as well, but there were 5 of us and this was cost effective in addition to being convenient and easy.

Lyndash: We will be on the RS' Best of Eastern Europe Tour which begins in Prague, so when we received our first hotel, there were suggestions to the hotel, One of which is the following:

There were several options for paying: pay the driver in cash or charge, or pay ahead of time, which is what we did because we decided it was simpler. We figured they are reputable if RS is suggesting using their service. There are 2 of us, with 2 carry-on size suitcases + 2 totes.

I am also using a private transport in Prague. 34 euro.
Do you tip the driver?
If so how much?
Thanks

I can also recommend praguetransport.com (same as above in markcw's post). We have used their services several times, as a couple and in a group of six. They have always been on time, even when our flight was late. They were easy to work with when we needed to pick up keys at a separate location from our hotel, as well as when we changed hotel locations mid-stay. On our first trip to Prague the driver was very helpful in helping us get our bearings.

Or use Bolt instead of Uber. Cheap and quick. Airport to the castle is & euros or was last summer.

Currently, Uber is the official airport taxi service. Most private transfers to the city are currently CZK750-800. Unless a company specifically says they take cash (and they will tell you which currencies) then assume that they all take credit cards but in my experience taxis often use "Sum up" which requires a contactless card payment. Without large luggage, the cheapest you can get into Prague centre is CZK40 on bus 100 or 119. For the Airport Express you can pay on the bus by local cash or contactless card. If you have neither i.e. chip'n'PIN etc then you go to a terminal info desk and buy an AE credit. I would not call a Bolt to the airport because they cannot go to the terminal pickup points. If you want Bolt then go to the forecourt of the Marriott hotel and use that as the pickup.
