Best area/district to stay for good nightlife (nightclubs, pubs)

Are there any particular neighborhoods or districts in Prague that are known for their nightlife? I'm sure good establishments are everywhere, but like District VII in Budapest that is loaded with pubs and clubs, is there an equivalence in Praha?

You can't go wrong staying in the Old Town, Praha 1. Loads of bars, clubs, and pubs scattered around there. bars and pubs can be found just about everywhere though. Zizkov has some cool student bars. Wenceslas Square, which is a short walk from the Old Town Square, is also loaded with action. Karlovy Lazne, one of the biggest nightclubs in Europe, is right near the Charles Bridge, in the Old Town. Happy Partying!

Got to agree with the info Frank has given. I am getting a bit old for night clubs etc. and when in Prague tend to have an old fashioned night in the pub with friends having a meal and a few drinks.
the Street Dlouha not far from Old town Square has a few of the trendier pubs and cocktail bars.

this link might be of use to you. the website as a whole is very good and there are often discount vouchers available.

Alan I don't know where you are staying but you may be interested in this New Micro brewery.Opened up late last year and I have only been it once just after it opened. Nice place, great food, can't comment on their beer as it wasn't in full production when I visited.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm staying up by the TV tower, and the friend I'm visiting lives opposite Flora metro, so this is very close. I'll definitely add it to my list. It looks interesting.

I think I've picked up various other recommendations from you while lurking on various sites over the years, so thanks for those too!

I was up by the Tower last month and they have turned the whole area around it into a mini golf course. looks like fun, mind you the local dog owners are not so happy as their dogs have nowhere to crap now.

Yes, my friend has been an ex pat for around a decade and I try and visit every year. U Sadu was one of the first places out of the centre we found. It still remains a favourite.

The other place we go to a lot, since it is opposite where he used to work, is Therapy
