Beer/Brewery Tours in Prague

Hello, my wife and I will be in Prague August 13-17 and we were looking for a brewery/beer tour that's a little more toned down, but hits some excellent places. Some tours on getyourguide looked a little too 21-year old partyish to me. Anyone had success with a tour or excursion that would be about a half day? If no one has any tours any essentials we must visit for a do it yourself tour? Thanks!

I was last on a pub tour in Prague about 18 years ago when I was 50 and I was the oldest person on the tour, don't think that tour still goes on.
https://www.centrumstaropramen.cz/eng/, worth visiting the Staropramen experience, not a actual tour of the brewery but a very good experience of the history of the place and you can get the tour that gives a tasting afterwards, I have done this twice and has been very good and well worth the money .
there are so many fantastic bars in the city and in 30 years of visiting Prague (twice this year so far) I have managed to visit more than my fair share. I tend to concentrate on Micro breweries of which there are a great many in the city and more seem to open just about every visit.
https://www.praguebeergarden.com/pubs/category/microbreweries , this website will list numerous places to have a beer in and I have set it on the micro brewery page, it will describe the place ,what beers they do and give instructions on how to get to them including maps. You can also look through the various headers and fine pubs by area or by beer they sell. worth spending a bit of time having a look. They also have a section on events that they organise and a link to beer tourism that will give you some more places that you might like to arrange a tour.
it would be quite easy for you to do a DIY tour and hit some of the more traditional drinking spots as well as some of the more modern ones , if you need any help just ask me.Let us know where you are staying and we may be able to make suggestions for places near by, there are a few of us on this forum that have been known to visit a pub or three.
Top Tip, if going into a bar for a beer, take a table and place a beer mat in front of you and the server will know you want beer.

Thanks so much UncleGus! I saw a forum you gave advice on from a while ago too and really appreciate your help! We’ll be staying right by the Strahov monastery brewery so it’s on our short list. Restaurace Malostranská beseda was also recommended to us. I’m glad to hear Staropramen is worth it too. A couple others I thought looked good were Pauwel Kwak Bierhuis and Gulden Draak Bierhuis.

the last two places you mention are Belgian beer bar never been in them but when in Prague I go for the Czech beer. near to pauwel kwak is the Staropramen visitor center that I previous mentioned. Beer Time a multi tap pub is a couple of minutes walk away and some great craft beers from all over the country .Andelsky Pivovar a micro brewery with some very good beers and great food.actually in that area are numerous good pubs, Radegast Peron, Kozlovna Lidicka , and Plesensky Andel to name a few.
As much as I like some Belgian beers ( was in a Belgian bar in Spain about 8 weeks ago) I much prefer the lighter crisper hoppier beers of the Czech republic.

Some consider Pilsner Urquell to be the finest pilsner beer in the world. You can go to their Pilsner Expereince in Prague. Their brewery is in Plzen, a couple of hours west of Prague if you want to go there instead. I did their Tapster Expereince while in Pilsen and had a really great time.

If you do this early in your trip you may meet some real beer geeks who can point you to their favorite spots in Prague.

Two locations for an on your own tour I can recommend are Bredovsky Dvur a restaurant and bar serving both light and dark lagers from the Pilsner Urquell family http://www.restauracebredovskydvur.cz/ and not from from the Mucha Museum. And the Strahov Monastery Brewery http://www.klasterni-pivovar.cz/
near Prague Castle.
