Art Noveau restaurant near Estates theater

Thanks to Unclegus who has contributed on many postings I have my RS Czeck book highlighted and noted with many restaurants, but I have a new request.

I am looking for an art noveau restaurant that we can go to for a celebration dinner prior to the opera at Estates theater that hopefully four (with a drink or two) can eat for less than $150 USD. The opera is at 7 pm and we want to get there early to look around so I would like it within 5-10 minutes walking distance to the theater. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it.

accidently erase my first post so try the municiple house, several restaurants in there that should hit the spot for you, even have a set menu set price meal which seems very reasonable. only a 5 minute walk or less from the estates theatre.

check out the menus and see if it suits but the place is lovely. I often visit the café /bar area for a few drinks and on a Saturday they often have a jazz band playing there in the afternoon.

I've never eaten at the Municipal House, but if you're not going there for a meal and are at all interested in Art Nouveau, be sure to take a tour there. It's fantastic, and you can't see the best parts without paying.

Unclegus, is that the Americky Bar you are referring to, downstairs?

The Americky bar is just that a bar , no food but it is lovely.Plzenska restaurant is next door to it downstairs and that is the place I would recommend, really nice not quite as grand as the French restaurant bit also not as expensive. The café/bar is the main area on street level, huge place and a great place to stop for coffee and cake or just a beer.
whatever you do visit the toilets whether you need to or not they are just the most beautiful place I have ever gone for a pee. (you don't get this stuff in guide books)

Thanks Unlegus. I understand what you meant now. I am very familiar with Plszenska. We have become distant friends with the accordian player and his female companion at Plszenska. Never did eat at either of the places at street level, and wish now that I had checked out the washrooms ( Ok, "toilets". Except to me, toilet is the actual device, not the room in which is resides!).

Remembering the Municipal House right now reminds me of that older gentleman in the black overcoat, black hat, dark glasses and grey beard sitting day after day playing his music box out front.

I love remembering things like that about our trips.
