We have 5 minutes to transfer trains at Ceske Budejovice (coming from Praha, and heading to Linz) - any tips for a family of 4 to quickly make the transfer? Will the platforms likely be close to one another?

Can't you take one of the direct trains? No worrying about missing your connection when your first train is delayed. I see a daily 10.01 and 14.01.

It is quite a small station and you will only need 2 minutes to transfer, you might even find the train you want will be on the opposite side of the platform for you.

5 minutes is more than enough time to cross the platform.
