All roads lead to Cesky Krumlov, but....

I was looking up directions to Cesky Krumlov (from Prague) and noticed that Google suggests 2 different ones. I'm driving to and from Cesky Krumlov at the end of May and was wondering if one of these routes is a prettier ride. Also, I have time to spare on the way pack to Prague before my night train, and I was wondering if someone could recommend a nice place to stop for lunch on either of the two routes or perhaps somewhere a little out of the way.

Route #1: Leaving Prague going through Benesov on the 3.
Route #2: Leaving Prague going through Pisek on the 4.

(Both routes meet up in Ceske Budejovice).

Any help/suggestions would be very appreciated!

Thank you!

Both routes are scenic, route #2 little bit more. On both routes about half of it is now on freeway. Good stop would be Pisek (pisek means sand) event. Tabor (if you choose the route #1). If you have a good map and want to wander a little, go north from Pisek to the castle Zvikov and then to the castle Orlik. Both are picturesquely located above the Orlik Lake.

I enjoyed visiting Konopiste Castle, furnished from the period around 1900, with more hunting trophies than you can count and an impressive Royal Armory collection. Note that you must take one of their guided tours. Rick does not recommend the food at the castle restaurants. The town of Benesov itself is skippable, but has untouristy lunch options. (I have not seen Tabor or Pisek for comparison and was traveling by train and bus.)
