Accessing Wi-fi

I will be traveling all over the country (not just Prague) and am really hoping to bring my Android tablet rather than lugging my laptop around to use the Internet. Has anyone had experience or problems with connecting to the internet using a tablet versus a laptop anywhere in the Czech Republic? Thanks in advance!

Connecting to WiFi is the same everywhere. The WiFi in the Czech Republic is on the same specs as that in the US or anywhere else. There should be no difference in using a tablet vs. a laptop. So, bring whichever you prefer (and the tablet will be lighter, so that's the obvious choice, unless you have something on the laptop you will want or need that's not on the tablet).

Some hotels offer free Wi-Fi that has limited range and may or may not work in your room. We stayed at the Green Garland in Prague and our first (above ground level) floor room was on the same level as the reception office and Wi-Fi worked in our room.

I used my iPad with WiFi in all the destinations of our Eastern Europe tour, and in the less-touristy town of Benesov. The strength of the WiFi might not reach to every floor, but is pretty certain in hotel lobbies, as in other parts of Europe.

I stayed on night before flying out of FRA at the Hotel Königshof in Mainz. The Wifi worked in the lobby and in my room, but in the breakfast room, which was right off the lobby, nothing. The entire wall between the lobby and the breakfast room, on the breakfast room side, was mirrored, and the metal in the mirror made a perfect RF shield.
