I haven't had much luck from the cruise company or elsewhere, if our Nov 7 river cruise from Budapest to Prague, will be a go since the Danube is low. Anyone know if Danube is high enough for a cruise to Prague without bussing between cities?
Well, as the Danube does not go through Prague, I think the chances are zero.
you are right. Better question, is the Danube water level high enough, at this time, for river cruise ships to go from Budapest to Linz without changing ships or busing? From Linz, we are on a bus to Prague.
Was hoping to hear from someone who is, or who has recently been on the Danube in that region.
Friends just returned from that cruise and they had a number of "bus-arounds" to deal with. But they said they went pretty smooth and they enjoyed the trip.
Hey, Sam from Green Bay, I'm watching the game now. Been a packer fan for over 30 years.
Appreciate your information on the Danube river cruise. We were looking forward to some rain, so there wouldn't be a lot of bussing, but it looks like warm weather and sunny skies ahead. So, we'll hope for the best and go . I'll write when we return and let others know what the water levels were like.
Doesn't the cruise company have a customer line with answers to that sort of question? I'd have thought that 2 days out they would know what the plan is.
Nigel, if they do, I haven't found it. Did just receive information from them about everything, except if the cruise will be interrupted by low water levels. I think most people traveling by river cruises at this time are having the same questions and the companies are being optimistic and vague. I think we are committed now and will hope for the best.
We arrived home on Nov 20th. We were lucky the captain left Budapest a day early to avoid the low water, so we were on the river cruise the full 10 days. We had mostly cold but good weather and some sun. It turned out to be the most casual and most fun of the four river cruises we have taken. If we take another river cruise, I would consider Grand Circle first. Don't know the water levels now, but if anyone is thinking of a river cruise, keep checking the water levels. Hope this helps.
I like Emily's humor. My educated guess would have been that you would make it to Linz on Danube which was now confirmed by OP. I really like that OP came back to let us know how everything went. I would appreciate more such OPs.
