10 days in Czech Republic in the month of July

Hey we are planning a 10 day holiday to Czech Republic mid July.

We reach on 16th around 1.30PM.. We are planning to take a train from Prague station to Brno..

Stay in Bro for 2nights

  • 1st day (monday) not sure if we would be able to much after a flight of 12hours + 3 hours train ride..

  • 2nd day (tuesday)- day trip for punkva caves, lednice castle, valtice castle (can we cover all this in a day)

  • 3rd day (Wednesday) - Villa Tugendhat, Spilberk Castle, Brno Underground Torture tour and nearby areas.. Wednesday Night leave for Cesky Krumlov. Is there a direct transfer to Cesky Krumlov from Brno? Online, I got bus overnight bus options to Cesky Krumlov which takes around 7/8 hrs via Prague.

  • 4th day (Thursday) - Explore Cesky Krumlov for a day and stay there.

  • 5th day ( Friday) - How is Lipno? Is it good going in Summers? Leave for Prague

  • 6th day ( Saturday) - Explore the city

  • 7th day ( Sunday) - one day Bohemian paradise (balloon ride)

  • 8th day (Monday) one day karlsjetn + kutna hora (do we have a combination or is it individually)

  • 9th day (Tuesday) one day karlovy vary

  • 10th day (Wednesday) - Prague

  • 11th day we have a return flight at 2:30PM from Prague airport

Does the itenary sound too fast paced? We want to explore the city and also enjoy the castles.. go some walking trails.. we would be using public transport..

Please advice for the transport? If the days are sufficient for Czech..

Thanks!!!

Seems like you are giving yourself only 2.5 days in Prague? I might plan for longer — get off the beaten path of Castle, Charles Bridge ... A day trip from Prague to Kutna Hora is nice. I’d skip Karlovy Vary and do Mariánské Lázně instead if you want to do a spa town ...

Your itinerary seems good to me. Czech Republic is a small country with very good public transport. From Brno to Cesky Krumlov go by bus. There is a direct bus Brno to Ceske Budejovice maybe even to Cesky Krumlov. If not you change buses in C.B. Check www.idos.cz . You can switch it to English. Lipno Lake is the largest in the C.R. and close to Cesky Krumlov. If you have time it is worth visit.

Hate to say it, but this itinerary screams "Rent a car." All the locations are 2-3 hours outside of Prague by train, save maybe Cesky-Krumlov and Lipno Lake, which are lot further. You would be spending 4 to 6 hours a day commuting if you stayed in Prague and did them as day trips, or you would pass through Prague to get between them by train. For instance, 8th day, Monday, you show two different destinations on opposite sides of Prague.

Maybe rent a car in Brno, do all the stops and end in Prague, turn in the car and spend 3 or 4 nights there before flying home. Or start with 3 or 4 days in Prague, then rent a car and do the tour and finish turning in t he car at Prague airport for the flight home.

Thanks guys!!

We figured we were trying to do a lot of things with the limited public transport.. So we modified our plans as follows:

1st day (monday) reach Cesky Krumlov by train..

2nd day (tuesday)- explore Cesky Krumlov

3rd day (Wednesday) - goto Lipno from Cesky Krumlov

4th day (Thursday) - Leave from Cesky Krumlov for Prague

5th day ( Friday) - Explore the city

6th day ( Saturday) - Explore the city

7th day ( Sunday) - one day Bohemian paradise (balloon ride)

8th day (Monday) one day karlsjetn

9th day (Tuesday) one day karlovy vary

10th day (Wednesday) - Explore the cave nearby

11th day we have a return flight at 2:30PM from Prague airport

2 - 3 days of exploring Prague, rest day trips..
please advice..
