We are going on a river cruise in September and adding three days in Prague. Always love Rick's suggestions but do not have his book this time. Like local non touristy places with good local food if possible. Any suggestions please? Yhank you.
Too many restaurants to recommend. I like those in neighborhoods where only locals go. They have to be good because otherwise they would not come again and there are not many tourists around to replace locals. Check these websites:

Thank you for web sites. What are the local neighbourhoods you talk about? No favorites!?
Almost everywhere in Prague you find a good restaurant and pub. It just happened that I was impressed with certain ones because I haven't been to others. You want me to be concrete so here it is. Pod Marianskym Obrazem pub: excellent beer and so called svickova: dumplings, meat, sauce, cranberries, whipped cream. It is in neighborhood Zizkov, Kubelikova Street. Nearby TV Tower. Pub U Hofmanu: nice outdoor garden, excellent beer, very good Czech food. It's in neighborhood Kobylisy, Ke Stirce Street. I heard about beer garden in Riegr Park but haven't been there yet.
If you want more answers put your question in the appropriate place e.g. under Czech Republic not under Czech Republic Reviews. This site is not for questions but for evaluating restaurants, hotels etc.
I suggest starting your trip in Prague by taking the Pub Crawl Tour that's put on by the same folks that have the Free Walking Tours.
They'll take you to some good and decently priced local restaurants for a few hours.
And they'll show you where the good off the beaten path nightlife is located.
On the Pub Crawl and they took us to Urquel brewery's beer hall that's a city block long. Urquel delivers beer by tractor trailer trucks daily--about 6000 gallons at a time. As far as I can tell, beer's the only thing in Prague that's really inexpensive.
On Rick's recommendation we ate at Lokal near the Jewish section. It is across the street from the Hastal Hotel. Definitely a local restaurant with great food. We were 4 people and we had dinner there twice during our stay last summer.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I have made a note of them all.
