Zagreb accommodation

Hello. My wife and I are planning a Croatia trip for mid May. Looking for good value hotel in Zagreb for one or two nights. Is it better to stay in upper town or lower town? Thank you.

I don't know if you're open to an apartment rental, but we stayed here in Zagreb in 2022, and it was, hands-down, the best airbnb we've ever rented. It's really too big for two people, but it's affordable, so that wasn't an issue for us. It's very central, and close to the funiculaire to the upper town, as well as being close to the main square. Yet, the windows overlook a quiet, treed area.

Stay in the lowertown. We’ve stayed at both the Hotel Esplanade, old world charm next to the train station, and Hilton Canopy, more modern and one block away. The area by the train station is not sketchy.

I was very happy with my stay at Hotel Jagerhorn. Affordable but higher end accommodation and well located just off Trg Republike. The funicular to the upper town is right around the corner as well. If you’re only here for two nights, this is a great choice.

@BB do you still have the Airbnb link? When I click on what you posted, it just takes me to the Airbnb Canada login.

I agree with the recommendation for Hotel Jagerhorn. That is where we stayed as well. It’s more convenient than staying by the train station. We have no complaints at all. Weather permitting, you can have the included breakfast outdoors.
