Zadar hotel with parking?

We are going to croatia in the spring. We will have a car for a few days.
After spending a night near Plitvice to see the Park in the morning (4 hours or so), we have a night to spend before returning the car in Split.
I was thinking Zadar looks interesting unless someone has a different suggestion. We do have a car and parking looks a bit tricky in areas of Zadar. Hoping to spend around 150€.
Appreciate any suggestions.

I was in Zadar about 3 weeks ago. It was very "okay". I stayed on an island off the coast of Zadar that was "okay++". If Zadar works best for you, fine, but do a little searching and see if you can do better.

I agree with Mr. E. Zadar is okay but not more than one days worth. We only go cause we have family who live right outside the old town and we park in their garage. Even with family there we only stay one night.
If you choose to stay in the old town, there is a parking lot just outside the walled entrance where you would probably have to park.
Check booking.com for a hotel close to the old town with parking.
Šibenik is nearby but you have the same problem, parking. For the one night Zadar would be easier.

Why not just add the extra night to Split. You could easily fill your extra time. There are many day trips from there you can take. I have 2 great guides in Split - one for a city walking tour, and one with a car who can work with you.

Thank you . I was considering Sibenik after the first comment about Zadar but maybe also not ideal.
I had wanted to go to Opatija originally from Plitvice but that just seems like too long a drive.
We will get the car in Zagreb and head to Plitvice and then have a night to spend before our reservation in Split.
I was thinking that krka park and Otocac might be interesting stops as we leave Plitvice and work our way to Split.
The reviews about Split had seemed mixed on this forum. A walking tour would be great and I would very much appreciate a contact for that.
Thank you

We spent two nights in Zadar and really liked it. I don't know about parking, though.

It's just that most of the members here are more impressed with Croatia than I am.

I am in Malta at the moment but on our way back to Croatia. I will PM you the guide info.
Don’t go to Opatija, zadar is nicer and much closer to Split. For the one night you have go to Zadar. Just find a hotel with parking even if it isn’t on site.
I’ll also look at booking.com to see a hotel suggestion since I know the area.

The guide I recommend for a walking tour of Split or even Trogir is
Pero Ugarković - email is [email protected]
He is licensed and very affordable and can tailor the tour to your interests. When you email him you can mention Barbara & Sanjin from NY.

For the hotel if you go to booking.com and put in your filters - parking and less then 1km from the city center - a few places pop up.
We stayed at the Art hotel Kalelarga Zadar once, which was a very short walk from the entrance gate.
Maybe you could email them and ask about the public parking just outside the gate. You can’t be the only people who visit with a car.
