Zadar, Croatia for a day

Just walk around the city. Walk along the water to hear the sea organ, there is a small park, an old church. It’s a small old town, No tour is necessary.

Zadar has the ruins of a Roman forum that Julius Caesar built. Not quite as old, but almost in perfect condition, is the Church of Donat, built on top of part of the old Roman forum about the year 800 during the Byzantine era.

Zadar is the birth place of Georg von Trapp. Since in 1938, Zadar was a part of Italy at that time, the Trapp family did not have to hike over the mountains like in the movie, but simply got on a train to Italy because he could claim Italian citizenship.
