Where to stay in Rovinj & reaching websites in Croatia

I'm having trouble locating the sites RS has recommended for apartment rental in Rovinj. Someone suggested that their alphabet is just different enough from hours so that typing in those email addresses will not work. Has anyone tried this? On that subject, has anyone had experience renting an apartment in Rovinj or Dubrovnik or even Split? I've not had trouble figuring out France or Italy or Amsterdam or Barcelona or London but I seem to be running up against a lot of difficulty with Croatia. Any help/advice you could offer would be very much appreciated.

Kay, personally I have mostly used Booking.com for booking places in Croatia. There have been issues raised about this company, and sometimes they don't offer the best price...but at very least, I recommend using Booking.com for research. There are plenty of apartments listed there. Sometimes you can book directly with the property (you don't always get the best price that way, but some people like to cut out the middleman to give the property all of the profit). You can simply google for the name of the property - that is, if there's a place called Rick's Comfy Apartment advertised on a booking site in Split, try googling "Rick's Comfy Apartment Split" and see if it shows up on other booking sites or even if it has its own website with contact info.

You can also use AirBnB. I was looking at a place recently I stayed at in Croatia in the past and saw it now listed on AirBnB, which includes plenty of apartments. Some properties are listed on multiple websites.

I don't have the latest Rick Steves guide so can't comment on which booking websites you are talking about. If you can try to type them out here maybe we can find the actual sites for you, if they still exist.

I second Andrew with my experience of finding lovely places in Croatia via booking.com. I have mostly stayed in apartments, but you can filter your search by hotel if you need that instead.

Thanks everyone! Andrew: I'll reply with the websites I was trying to reach later today or tomorrow. Again thanks to all.
