We beed Help with our Itinerary

If you guys don't mind we'd love your input on our itinerary. We are 61 and 71 and haven't traveled much for 3 years. Last trip to Europe we moved around a lot and although we really want to see everything we vowed to make it a more chill vacation. Maybe staying in places longer and making day trips. this is what we've planned so far. Our airline is booked SAS San Fransico to Copenhagen non stop. Sept 3
Arrive Sept 4 Copenhagen 12pm
Sept 7 Fly Copenhagen to Zagreb, Tsxi to the Train staition Down Town ( Not sure what train company or station we need to go to) Not sure how to buy tickets in advance)
Take train to Ljubljana Sept 7- 12 take day trips
Sept 12 We are thinking fly to Dubrovnik or Take train to Zagreb for cheap flight to Split or ?
If its Dubrovnik then we will stay 2 nights then get to Korchula and stay 6 nights ( chill) from there make a day trip to Hvar.
Then Split for 2-3 nights rent car drive to Pitvice Lakes National Park for one night, then drive to Zagreb stay 2 nights and fly home

The part of this trip I cant figure out is this
Should we skip Dubrovnik
Should we spend more time in Split
Should we spend less time in Korcula or for that matter, more time
IS there a city, town , island that we are skipping?
is one night in Pitvice enough. we figure an afternoon hike and the next morning hike then drive to Zagreb
Are we staying long enough in Zagreb
Is there a better way to get from Ljubljana to either Dubrovnik or Split?

We leave on Sept 3 and return Sept 25th so tickets are paid for. that is our window.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Andrew

I would add at least a day to Dubrovnik. I loved it. I thought Lokrum Island made for a lovely 1/2 day break from the city. I haven’t been to Korcula, but I hear it is fairly quiet, so 5 days will probably be enough. Our skipper/guide for our Blue/Green Cave tour yesterday says he thinks Korcula is the prettiest. 😊

Truly, I think you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. I’m in Croatia right now, and it is lovely here.

Well, once you leave Ljubljana, you have quite a bit of moving around . Your plan isn’t bad - and what you do really depends on how you feel about the places you have chosen. If you are able to fly to Dubrovnik, that might be good - then work your way back up as you have outlined.

I might take one night from Korćula (as much as I love it) and give it to Dubrovnik - just so you aren’t as rushed. So, nights of:
12, 13, 14: Dubrovnik
15-19: Korćula
20, 21: Split
22: Plitvice
23, 24: Zagreb
25 fly

And of course there are places you are skipping. You aren’t going to Istria at all. But you don’t have much time. So you just make choices and enjoy where you go. It is all gorgeous.

Should we skip Dubrovnik: NO! if its overcrowded from cruise liners, you won't enjoy it and it can be bit of a tourist trap - but its a picture perfect small old town on a good weather day. esp the views from the walls and cobbled, stepped streets. try to stay in or close to old town/walled town.
Should we spend more time in Split: 2-3 nights is good enough
Should we spend less time in Korcula or for that matter, more time: haven't been here
IS there a city, town , island that we are skipping?: Rovinj? its an Italian feeling town on the coast
is one night in Pitvice enough. we figure an afternoon hike and the next morning hike then drive to Zagreb: Yes
Are we staying long enough in Zagreb: Yes. I was in Zagreb just before Christmas and loved old town - stay close to it! if you start doing many museums, you may need more time - but 2 nites is enough.
Is there a better way to get from Ljubljana to either Dubrovnik or Split? -- Fly is the best. its fast and tickets can be cheap - atleast on Croatia airlines they are
