water taxi schedule in September, Dubrovnik to Cavtat

Hi
My husband and I will be in Dubrovnik in mid September to tour, and then we are staying in Cavtat for a few days to just relax and enjoy the sun. does anyone know the water taxi schedule for Dubrovnik to Cavtat? I've read that "Bus #10" will take us there, but would prefer the water route as I've read that it's scenic

Thank you
Brenda

The note in Rick's Croatia book is similar to this one from Dubovnik.com: Many different companies offer a variety of routes, schedules, and fares, so the best plan is to just show up at the pier, and enjoy an ice cream and a stroll while you wait for the next departure, usually once an hour during tourist season. Checking local schedules there in person is generally the best plan all around the Mediterranean.

thank you. I actually now remember reading that in Rick's Croatia book, I just thought it referred to the islands, not up the coastline. Thanks again, Brenda

The water taxi is scenic, but slower than the bus, if that matters ... ours took about 40 minutes. Are you planning to use the boat to transfer to Cavtat with your luggage? I'm not sure our boat would have handled luggage. If that's your plan, you might want to visit the pier during your stay in Dubrovnik, and ask if that's possible.

We love Cavtat. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Be aware of this in regards to the water taxi to Cavtat - it is one ROUGH ride. We took one of the boats from Dubrovnik on a fine and clear September day. And about ten minutes into the ride I realized we had made a huge mistake in taking the boat. The waves were coming up over the sides of the boat and drenching us. The passengers started getting sick and many people were vomiting off the side of the boat. It was a pretty scary ride. I was completely wet by the time we arrived - right through to my underwear, which was soaked. And once we got to Cavtat it was clear and sunny again and perfectly beautiful. We took the bus back to Dubrovnik. Easy, simple, dry and vomit-free. I subsequently researched whether or not that boat ride is usually so turbulent and found lots of comments around the Internet world that it is often quite crazy. I say take the bus. You'll get plenty of pretty views just walking the lovely Cavtat harbor.

wow, thanks for telling me. I had read a post like this before and assumed it was a random event - apparently not. I thought the scenery might be good but I'll take a cab over seasickness! thanks again
