My wife and I are considering Rick Steves' Adriatic Tour, but we're concerned about whether we're going to run into "squat toilets" predominately. Our knees just don't work any more and I'm not sure that I can use that type of toilet without falling over. Sorry for the bluntness of the question, but we really do need to know whether we can take care of ourselves on that tour.
Not an issue on this tour. You will find "regular" toilets everywhere. Worst case if there's one of those, there will also be a "regular" one available as well.
I’ve travelled around Croatian since 1978 and have never encountered a squat toilet.
I have never seen a squat toilet in Slovenia or Croatia. These countries are very modern - these are not developing countries! I’m not even sure a Croatian or Slovenian person would know what that even is.
Did not encounter “squat toilets” on this tour when I took it in late 2010s.
In the highly unlikely event you ran in to a squat toilet, there will almost always be a disabled access bathroom that has a standard US style toilet. On my trip to Turkey most of our tour group stood in line for that one. Also make sure to carry packets of kleenex with you, the lack of TP is always a possibility no matter where you go (pun intended).
Currently on this tour - no sign a squat toilet yet and all the toilets we’ve encountered have seats.
