We are 5 women traveling to Croatia early Sept. One of us is flying home from Split. We would like to make it easy for her to get to the airport for a very early morning flight, so we thought staying in Trogir would be better than Split. We would appreciate any suggestions for accommodations in Trogir, or in Split if there is an easy way to get to the airport ( she has to leave at around 5am so catching the bus is not feasible).

That's a good call, as Trogir is a ten-minute taxi ride, and from Split it's 30 minutes.
Both times I was in Trogir, I rented an apartment--your host should have no trouble recommending a driver/taxi.
