Travel suggestions after 14 day RS Adriatic Tour

We are doing the RS 14 day Adriatic tour in October and have 3 days before flying back home. The trip ends in Dubrovnik; any must see recommendations near Dubrovnik? We've thought of going to Venice and flying home from there but seems like there's so much to see in and around Dubrovnik; Montenegro, etc?

We spent a week in Dobrota which is just outside of Kotor, right on the bay. Montenegro was great! Driving to Kotor we had a great meal here http://www.catovica-mlini.com/en/. A highlight of our stay was a day on the bay with these folks https://www.montenegro4sail.com/. We rented our car in Dubrovnik, right outside one of the gates (been a while that’s all I can remember). Border crossing was a bit slow but other than that driving was just fine. We returned the car and taxi’d to the airport in Dubrovnik.

Do you want to stick to public transport or use a car?
Car: Kotor Bay or Hercegovina
Bus/Catamaran: Elafiti islands, Mljet, Korcula
How much time will you get to spend in Dubrovnik on the tour?

The trip (by bus or car) around the Bay of Kotor is a special experience. I'd actually choose bus to give all members of your travel party a chance to enjoy the scenery. Kotor itself is nice if a mega-ship isn't in port. You can decide whether you want to spend time in a place that looks a good bit like a small Dubrovnik; I liked Kotor.

On the way from Dubrovnik to Kotor there's the nice, less touristy, town of Herceg-Novi. Several others on the forum are high on the small coastal village of Perast. For me it was considerably less interesting, visually, than Herceg-Novi, but YMMV. From Perast you can take a quick boat ride out to Our Lady of the Rocks on the island.

Thank you for your suggestions. We do a walking tour in Dubrovnik on the RS tour. Any recommendations in Dubrovnik of must see places is welcomed. If we do a trip to Montenegro and Kotor, is it best to make a day trip and return to Dubrovnik or just stay in Montenegro?

I assume you will walk the walls when you are on your tour in Dubrovnik. That is the highlight of visiting Dubrovnik. I recommend seeing War Photo Limited. It’s a museum with photos from the 1990’s war in the Balkans and also the Vietnam War. Photos are sad and tragic. I think this museum helps to some degree to understand the Balkans War, which I found confusing while it was happening because of all the ethnic groups involved. I think everyone who visits Dubrovnik should visit this museum. We also enjoyed the Franciscan monastery.

We spent 3 nights in Dubrovnik. We spent one day sightseeing in Dubrovnik doing what I just mentioned. Then on the 2nd day we hired a private driver to drive us around the Bay of Kotor. The scenery is beautiful; we visited Budva, Kotor, and Perast. Perast is our favorite. Soooo pretty! Love the Venetian architecture. Perast is quiet and calm. Kotor is nice but it was very crowded with a huge cruise ship. Budva was our least favorite. Hiring a private driver made the day so much more interesting. He gave us history of Croatia and Montenegro. The private driver also told us Herceg Novi is very nice. In fact he likes it better than Budva. But we didn’t have time to visit 4 places.
