We will fly into Dubrovnik and will pretty much follow Rick Steve's itinerary (Page 20 of Croatia & Slovenia book) backwards (Dubrovnik, Hvar, Split, Plitvice, Rovinj, Ljubljana) before heading to Venice & Germany.
When do we need to rent a car, drop off, rent next car, etc? (Obviously not hours, but areas). For example, we land in Dubrovnik then go to Hvar, but how do we get there? From Hvar, we go to Split, but how do we get there? etc.... Or, do we take a bus, train, boat?
I've read other forums where they say to take the Flixbus (or something similar) to get to Venice from Ljubljana. Is that still the best/least expensive route to go?
