I’ve stayed there with a tour group. A very nice upscale large hotel. Right next to a nice little beach and a walkway along the sea, with various restaurants and other services. It’s in the Lapad area a 10-15 minute bus ride from the old town, but that service is convenient and I actually think Lapad is nicer to stay in than the more congested old city, but others on this forum would disagree and I respect their opinion. Since I had pickup arranged by tour company I don’t have transportation suggestions, but I would think there are taxis anytime there are incoming flights. It’s about a 40 minute drive from airport to Lapad as I recall.

I always ask the accommodation first. But at that hour, I’d not care a fig about budget and would just grab a taxi.

Sorry I did not mean to sound dismissive if budget is a priority—you could check to see if the airport bus is running and take that part of the way and then complete the journey by taxi. I just don’t think I’d have the wherewithal to do it by public transport at that hour.

One thing that took a bit of getting used to at Hotel Kompas is the layout. Like other hotels in that area, it’s on quite a steep hill, with the lobby and road entrance at the top on an upper floor, with about 8 floors below that with the rooms, on down to the lowest floor where the restaurant. pool and access to the seaside are. Kind of the opposite of what you normally find with a hotel lobby on ground floor and all the rooms above it, but it makes sense once you adjust.
