Top Dining Suggestios Requested

We're traveling mid May for three weeks and looking for some recommendations for restaurants and dining spots not to miss. We like everything from casual street food to fine dining. We're also trying to avoid any tourist traps or over priced food if we can get more locally authentic food down the street. Let us know if you have any restaurants that you think should make our must dine at list.

Dubrovnik
Korcula
Split
Plitvice Lakes
Rovinj
Lubjuiana
Zagreb

Thanks!

In Dubrovnik, I thought the Panorama restaurant atop Mt. Srd was absolutely worth the splurge. Service, food, and of course, the view were excellent. Frankly, compared to the restaurants in the old town the price seemed more than reasonable.

In Korcula, Boka Wine Bar had a great charcuterie plate. The owner is very friendly and passionate about what he does. Korcula on the whole felt like it was the most expensive town to eat that I visited.

In Ljubljana, Sokol looks like a tourist joint and largely is I guess, but the fun service and top notch food made me a believer. POP’s Burger Bar is a rollicking place on the river. Typically, a burger in Europe feels like a punt, but this is legit. Some of the best sweet potato fries I’ve had.

Generally, I had low expectations in an area so touristy, but I always ate quite well just maybe not spectacularly. I often went to RS recommendations which are usually solid. Like, the batting average was surprisingly good. Slovenia coffee is tops. Ice cream is king. If you told me Slovenians’ diet was 90% ice cream, coffee and cigarettes I’d believe you. They have a crazy idea what makes a good iced coffee though, it’s like a huge glass of cold milk on ice with a shot of coffee in it.

I highly recommend Georgie Bistro in Jlubljana. Creative menu and terrific service! Best meal we had during a week in Slovenia.

In Dubrovnik, we enjoyed Tavulin. I had the three course menu, my husband ordered a la carte and both were excellent.
On the flip side of Dubrovnik, we had a HORRID experience at Zuzori. Rude, passive aggressive service and average food that did not warrant their price point.

I would suggest Aterina in Korcula. We sat outside and enjoyed fresh, local cuisine with a very personable server. Great evening!

I don't usually look for pizza when traveling, but pizza was always a good choice in Croatia. Sometimes you want a fast and simple meal.

In Split - Fife. Local place off the main strip (Riva). Great food
In Zagreb - Vinodol - my husband orders the schnitzel. He asks for it as it isn’t always in the menu they have never said no.
In Korčula - they have many restaurants along the water circling the old town. We have eaten at varies places and always had a good meal. Korčula is an island people return to often so they don’t usually have bad food. The water views are soothing.
In Dubrovnik - have pizza at Mea Culpa. The Taj Mahal has traditional Balkan food. Kapon is a nice splurge.
The restaurant atop Mt. Srd mentioned above has two other locations with different names. One is off the Stradun on a small terrace called Gradska Kavana. You can sit and view the stradun or walk through and sit by the water.. The other is Dubravka 1836 just outside the Ploće Gate. Again, good food, amazing views of the water.
In Ljubljana- Sarajevo has traditional Balkan food also, very good, inexpensive.

All of the above we have eaten at many times and would return to. Service was friendly, not rushed.
