We are traveling in June from US to Split, with a connection in Frankfurt with a 1:20 layover. This was booked by our tour company and I looked and other flight options do not look good. Is this short layover time possible? We are arriving Lufthansa Terminal 1 and departing Lufthansa/operated by Croatia Airlines Terminal 1.
Hoping someone who is familiar with this airport and security process can share some information.
I think you’ll be fine, but it will feel a bit tight. It’s a big airport and can be confusing. Immigration always feels like it takes forever. But unless your flight suffers severe delays I don’t foresee a problem. If you’re arriving in the morning that’s helpful, less crowds/lines.

If the first flight is delayed, it would be a problem, so I would make sure you know when the next flight is and have the contact info you need to make a change if needed -- since you mentioned it was booked by a tour operator and not by yourself.
I have made this tight connection several times, but I often had to run, and do be aware no help is offered to get you to the gate in this situation.
It is a "legal" connection time, meaning they expect you to make it, but they do not account for late flights, nor do they account for the level of construction and traffic at Frankfurt airport that makes sitting on a transfer bus for 30 minutes not a rare occurrence. I would not change this if it causes you to have a worse connection, but I would definitely be nervous until I was sitting in that seat!
What valadelphia said. I have made 3 or 4 one hour connections in Frankfurt over the years. Havent missed one yet ... until I do. Get seats at the front of your cabin on the incoming flight, even if it costs a tiny bit more. Of course that doesnt help if you end up being one of the many, many flights that ends up unlaoding on the tarmac and everyone rides a bus to the terminal building. That adds 20 minutes on to the trip. You will be going through immigration so, keep an eye open for the lane with close connections. Be well organized and move briskly.
