My husband and I plan to travel by bus from Split to Igalo on October 17, 2018. Does anyone have any suggestions or information on bus lines, timetables, etc.?

Herceg Novi may be the closest stop, but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with the two stops immediately before it on the schedule. Note the relatively late arrival time, after which you'll need to find a taxi, I guess.
The BusCroatia website (this is not a bus company) shows four buses from Dubrovnik to Herceg Novi. It's not hard to get from Split to Dubrovnik by bus.
It's always a good idea to verify online schedule information by going to the departure bus station as soon as you arrive in that city. Unfortunately, it may not be easy to get reliable information on Dubrovnik-Herceg Novi buses at the Split bus station, but you can try.
I recommend buying international bus tickets in advance if possible. Those buses are not frequent, and the ones I've taken have all been quite full even if not totally sold out.
The company Gardasevic offers service between Herceg Novi and Igalo, but it's just twice a day.
Just looking at a map, it appears that the Dubrovnik-Herceg Novi buses go right past or through Igalo; If the bus doesn't bypass the town on a highway, I guess there's a slight possibility there's a request stop in Igalo or that the driver would be kind enough to let you off there. It's worth letting the driver know that's actually where you're going (don't expect him to speak English). This may work better if you don't have luggage in the hold under the bus.
