Split to Dubrovnik Travel options?

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to travel from Split to Dubrovnik at the beginning of August and was wondering what my options would be? I am well aware of the direct flight, but are there any ferry options? I heard there was a catamaran that runs between the two with a couple of stops? Time is not an issue for me, I am moreso concerned with price?

Kind regards!

There are nice, inexpensive buses that go up and down the coast regularly. It took about 4-4.5 hours and it was a beautiful ride. I would think in August there would also be a ferry option, but I didn't look into that when I went in September.

I don't remember, unfortunately - it was 4 years ago. I bought the ticket at the bus station, not in advance so I don't think I knew the cost until I got there (or maybe it was in the Lonely Planet book).

I was researching this a while back and yes there are ferries. I don’t know about the pricing but the time compared pretty well with the bus (supisingly).

Hmm interesting! I'll definitely look into both options. My guess is the bus may be a bit more of a bumpy ride.

Your options both take about the same time. The catamaran is more likely to be a bumpy ride if the sea is choppy. There is one catamaran a day departing every morning. You are sat airplane style and you cannot walk around outside. You need to get catamaran tickets in advance at Krilo.hr.

As Croatia isn’t a third world backward country, the smooth tarmac roads between Dubrovnik and Split won’t be bumpy and the route is scenic. Buscroatia.com will show details of the many services that operate every day.

You'll actually see more from the bus than from the catamaran. Bus will also likely be less expensive, maybe around 140 kuna compared to around 210 kuna for the catamaran. Buses also run much more frequently.

Croatia is not a 3rd world country in terms of roads. Roads that I have seen are in good shape, well maintained, with reasonable speed limits. There is basically 1 major "auto-bahn" expressway, and numerous smaller roads. Buses in Croatia are inexpensive and reliable. They stop periodically for a potty/smoke break. Rest areas on the highway are modern and well-equipped.

You all are extremely extremely helpful, I'm so thankful to have found this forum. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my comments on the conditions of the roads. I believe the bus option is the best for my travel itinerary. Cheers!
