Split, island, Dubrovnik

My husband and I, both 65,. and our 25 year old daughter will be traveling to Croatia in September. There are a number of sites we want to see in and around Split such as the Roman ruins in Solin, Trogir and Diocletian's Palace and then get to an island, possibly Hvar. What's the most convenient way to do this? Can I then travel to Dubrovnik directly from Hvar and what mode of transportation would you recommend I use? Can someone also give me the approximate times for the trip from Split to Hvar and then Hvar to Dubrovnik? Thank you so much!

If you have the time, you should be able to take the ferry from Split to Hvar spend a night on Hvar and then take the ferry the next day on to Dubrovnik. The ferry schedule is more limited in September so the longer connections are less frequent. The ferry to Hvar is just over an hour. The segment on to Dubrovnik is about 3 hours.

You could also see Hvar as a day trip from Split and then take the bus from Split to Dubrovnik. Which plan you follow should be determined by how much time you want to spend on Hvar or in Dubrovnik.

Thank you so much Mike. I like the idea of a day trip from Split with a possible overnight on Hvar. We all tend to get a touch of sea sickness, so the longer trip to Dubrovnik should be on land. Again, thank you!
