I will be travelling solo for much of this trip. It will be my first time in Croatia. I would like to find a central place to stay where I can get around easily for the town and day trips. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We always stay at the Hotel Peristil. Just inside the palace walls, a short walk to the bus station for day trips. We will be staying there again in late September with friends. In fact, I have to make my reservations.

You cannot go wrong with any of the hotels within the central Square. Split is pretty small and most everything is walkable from the central square.
