We will be going to Croatia for the first time in September 2014. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a smaller type cruise that would takes us to several islands and coastal villages. It seems like a good way to get to know the area but I am not a fan of the huge cruise boats.

If you're looking for a small-boat cruise as your main form of accommodation and transportation, then try www.cruisecritic.com. For shorter, local services, Rick's Croatia book lists a few short, sightseeing cruises and ferry options at different destinations. You generally will find more info and booking options at the port, travel agency, or tourist office when you arrive in any coastal town. www.jadrolinija.hr is the main Croatian ferry operator.

Katerina-line is based in opatija with an office in Dubrovnik. They have small ships that go up and down the coast.
