We have one day in Dubrovnik from 8am-8pm during our cruise. The day before is Split, and the dat after is Kotor, so we are specifically looking for ideas for Dubrovnik. We are 3 couples, all in our 70’s so light or easy activity level is best. Best ideas? Thanks!
One popular activity is to walk the walls of Dubrovnik. It is not too hard physically, but there are some things to keep in mind.
1. There are limited access points and therefore limited exit points. There are a few restaurants/cafes along the way if you wanted to take a break.
2. I was a little surprised that I had a bit of a fear in spots. It wasn't the heights necessarily, but the heights combined with very little guard rails or protection. It didn't help that a sudden rainstorm came up.
3. There are some stair involved. If stairs are hard on your knees, this may not be for you.
That said, the views are amazing.
You really don’t need to take a tour, just get yourself into the old town. Taxis are pretty inexpensive. Then walk the wall as mentioned above or just walk up and down the main street, around the pier, up and down the side streets. Take the cable car up to My. Srd for amazing views and a small museum or a coffee. Enjoy your day there.
There are quite a few interesting museums. Stop by the TI office in the main street.
Thanks for those recommendations! We will do some more research - perhaps I can find a map of Dubrovnik that will help us figure out a route that will not be too challenging for our 70 y/o legs and knees. :). I appreciate all the feedback!
