Is Rovijn also getting hammered from the cruise ship crowds that are destroying much of the Mediterranean ?
We had a great time years ago and want to go back but we have heard that it might be overrun now.
I have not experienced Rovinj yet, but what I used for other ports in Croatia last year was this website http://crew-center.com/cruise-ships-port-schedules-2018
Maybe that would help with your planning?
The port and facilities in Rovinj are not equipped to handle large ships. You’ll see that only small vessels make port in Rovinj. That said, half of Austria and Germany (and the Netherlands and Denmark) flock to this area in July, so that’s your larger issue. You couldn’t pay me enough to go to the Croatian coast in the summer as it would ruin my love of that area forever.
We were in Rovinj at the very beginning of July 3 years ago and did not feel like it was overrun at all. We really enjoyed our 2 days there.
We have no cruise ships in Rovinj, the town gets very busy in high season but not overrun.
