I have a couple of questions... Where is the easiest place to return a rental car in Split? The port or train station? We will be driving from Plitvice and returning our car in Split.
Also, does anyone have a tour guide in Split they would recommend?

Not much difference between car drop locations, I prefer rail station. Most people don't use or need a guide in Split, if you choose to use one, take licensed guide, http://www.visitsplit.com/en/1/welcome-to-split
Dear Cindy, I have found these guys www.tourdesksplit.com on Tripadvisor. They were great, we have done Split city tour, guide gave us great overview and great tour experience. As for the car rental drop off, port and the train area are just next to each other.
We are doing the same thing in September. We were considering the airport as a drop off point rather than try to navigate the small crowed streets near the port.
We will also be dropping off and picking up a car in Split in September and would love to get feedback on whether to do this at the airport or in town. How hard is it to navigate Split?

We are headed over the middle of June,! Also, be aware that there is a one way drop off fee. We are picking the car up the Zagreb airport and dropping off in Split. The drop off fee is as much as the cost of the rental car!
So how did the car drop off go? We are looking into doing the same thing and would appreciate the feedback.
The drop off was no problem! The drop off was actually at a hotel and then the car rental guy took us to our apartment. Also, driving in Croatia was super easy with a GPS. Have a great trip. You’re going to love Croatia!

We used a guide from the RS Croatia book. She was wonderful and well worth it.
