Private guide/driver in Croatia

Hello,

My wife and I are exploring a two-week trip to Croatia in spring 2018 (possibly with some time in Slovenia, Montenegro and/or Bosnia and Herzegovina). Last year we spent two weeks in Romania with a private guide/driver. We worked out the itinerary in advance using his recommended tour with some adjustments. He made all the overnight arrangements at small hotels or B&Bs taking into consideration our preferences (private bathroom, for example). He also knew the ins and outs of all the typical attractions as well as those that were less well known/relatively unknown. The trip involved a lot of driving (beautiful countryside, though) and we found having a guide/driver (and translator) who knew the country so well worked out really well for us.

Any recommendations of a similar guide/driver for Croatia and the surrounding area?

Thanks,
Bill

Bill, we took a 2-week privately guided tour through Romainia this Sept and loved it. We too are looking for private guide for a Balkan tour in the spring of '18. I will consult with Serban Capitana, our Romanian guide for his suggestion and will let you know what I discover. Please share your experience here as well.

We plan trips around a number of factors, but mainly its about the guide (if the destination will benefit from a guide - not all do) and if there is something special going on or a special opportunity. I will interview guides for months before i choose. I gotta live with these people for a week or so and they can make or break the trip. A few have become friends over the years and we make trips back just to visit them.

I cant help in Croatia in particular but I do have a few that are pretty special in the Balkans

Bulgaria: A sweeter, kinder, more patient person never lived. Two tours with her: Pavlina Docheva https://easytouristguides.com/

Romania: When I met Daniel he was just starting out. We brought him his first SLR and now he has been published in National Geographic and is a RS recommended guide. http://covinnus.com/

Montenegro: Dušica Stanišić hasn't got a website yet so you will have to PM me for contact information. Pretty amazing kid. Just returned about a month ago from our second trip to Montenegro and have every desire to return.

Hungary Andrew is the first guide i ever hired about 15 years ago. Still use him and recommend him to our guests.

Kyiv: Irnya introduced this splendid city. We return in January: http://kyivexplorer.in.ua/new-page-1/

Belgrade: We just did a day tour with Kristina but she was pleasant and knew her stuff: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristina-filipovic-6047064b/

Slovakia: Okay, I have never used Hana, but i have been talking to her and sending guest to her for a few years now. http://www.vasvarirentals.com/img/partners/slovakia.pdf
