Pre purchasing Croatian Ferry tickets

Hello again. We will be traveling to Croatia late April to mid May and riding ferries between four islands. My questions: is it advisable to purchase my ferry tickets in advance, from either here in the States a month or so in advance, or once We’re in Croatia maybe a couple days in advance, or is any advance purchase necessary? Finally, is there one ticket company better than the others? Once again, thank you for your help. Your responses to my other Croatia questions have been wonderful.

I believe you have to buy your ferry tickets directly from the ferry companies rather than a third party site. That will work best anyway if you want some flexibility in when you will want to travel. That may only become obvious once you are on the ground. We have booked ahead and on the day.

I haven't done it since pre pandemic times so things may have changed some.

Have fun.

I have done it both ways. In 2021, I just bought at the ticket office a few days (or less) ahead. In 2023, I prepurchased a few weeks ahead and had my ticket on my phone, as did most people.

We usually purchase tickets ahead of time just to cross it off our list and not have to think about it again. But at that time of year you should be able to purchase day of.
