Any thoughts on the best "scenic but easy" route from Plitvice park to Pula? Would like to take the coastal road 8 (E65) from Senj up to some point near the Krk bridge. We dont want to get messed up in Rijeka or Opatija so does anyone have experience on the best way to get around these towns and then down road 66 which follows the coast about half way from Opatija to Pula, which would maximize the time on coastal roads?
Any recommendation for a lunch stop about half way through ( 2 to 2.5 hours? from Plitvice) would also be appreciated.
This will be our first rental in Europe so not keen anything too tricky.

We just did this trip - Split to Plitvice to Labin. It took about 9 hours with our stop in Plitvice.
We drove Plitvice to Karlovac and connected with the A1 to Rijeka. Road signs are excellent and the highway goes around Rijeka, so no worries about traffic. Then headed south. Even the main high way affords amazing views of the coast before ducking in to a tunnel. We then went south towards Labin with more incredible views. Tolls along the way accept kuna, Euro and credit card. Drivers were good... No aggressive drivers and they respected the left lane as the fat land.
Sorry, we did not stop for a meal on the way.
