Plitvice Lakes vs. Krka National Parks

My wife & I will have one day when we are driving from Split to Zagreb, and have a choice of visiting Plitvice Lakes or Krka National Parks (but not enough time for both).

Can anyone make a recommendation as to which one is better? I realize that that is subjective.

Krka is easier to reach, since it not far from the Autoroute that goes from Split to Zagreb, but my understanding is that Plitvice is spectacular.

You can swim at Krka, but not at Plitvice.

Plitvice is truly spectacular, so just going on the massive amount of falls and the incredibly beautiful nature of Plitvice, I would have to choose Plitvice.

Thanks. We're going to be there in the first week of May, so I think swimming will be out of the question.

Personal preference, but Plitvice is spectacular and it gets so many visitors for a reason.

Our family visited Plitvice last summer and were absolutely blown away. It is a truly magnificent and unique place. There are crowds, but if you arrive early and see the lower lakes first, you will be able to see the much less crowded upper lakes in the afternoon when the crowds arrive at the lower lakes. Plitvice is indeed spectacular. I still frequently look at the photos I took because they lift my spirits.

I have been to both, and both are great spots. If i had to pick one, id go with Plitvice, and if i recall it makes more sense to go there then to krka on your way to Zagreb. Depending on the time of year, Plitvice waterfalls may not be as spectacular in terms of volume, but the water and lakes when combined with the waterfalls are amazing.

You can swin in Krka, but there are millions of places in croatia where you can swim
