Parking In Rovinj

We will be spending three nights in Rovinj in September, 2025, party of two. We are not beachgoers, so I thought it would be nice to book a guesthouse in the old city. The problem is that we will have a rental car, and I believe that we need to park outside the old city.

I wrote to the guesthouse, and after many back and forth emails, they finally suggested parking in a zone 4 lot because it is only about 10 euros for a 24 hour period. They did name the closest zone 4 parking lot, which is a 15 minute walk from the guest house. That is perfect acceptable to us.

My question is, given that we would like to drive around Istria during the day, do the zone 4 parking lots allow "in and out" privileges? If so, how do you buy a ticket, and how do you get back in the lot? Also, the guesthouse people mentioned that sometimes one zone 4 parking lot is full, so you may have to go to another one. If so, is your 24 hour parking ticket good at the other lots?

Thank you.

Ask your guesthouse if they have a contact with a parking spot in the monasrey parking lot. The Franciscan monastery gas turned its garden into a numbered parking lot for which people pay a yearly fee. Some guesthouses have their own spaces. In a pinch they may find one for you. My friend who runs the Mulini Rock apartment has such a spot and includes it in the price of his apartment.

The Rovinj tourist Office website lists parking spots. If no barrier, you pay and display. If barrier, you pick up the card on entry and pay it on exit, like an airport parkade.

September is quieter but not dead. My favourite month in Rovinj. Go to any good restaurant you dins open, they often close suddenly in September depending on when they opened - a six month permit thing. Segutra for example/
La Vela stays open all year and is a local centre. Good food, goo people.
A say to Oportalj and Motovun and Grascisce will make you forget the price of parking.

janet - Thank you. I had already seen that link, but it does not go into detail on how you pay, and if you are allowed in and out privileges.

john - Thank you for all your great suggestions. I will review them carefully.

I am still confused about the rules for parking in a Zone 4 lot. When I get a ticket upon entry, am I allowed in and out privileges at the same lot, and any other zone 4 lot? Can I pay in advance for three 24 hour allotments? Does anyone else know the details?

Thank you.
