Northern Croatia In July. Seeking Small Towns Near Good Sea Swimming

Hello,
As the title states, we are hoping to visit northern Croatia and are seeking recommendations for small towns on the sea, or close to it, that don't feel heavily touristed.

We plan to spend time in the Dolomites and possibly Austria as well, which is why we are considering Northern Croatia

Thank you in advance for any replies!

In July, popular towns like Rovinj are likely quite bustling, but there is a LOT of coastline for spreading out, or you could stay up in the hills in the interior and drive to beaches during the day. I assume you mean Istria, but you could also go to the northern islands of Cres/Losinj and Krk.

There are many place along the coast, look at a map. One of my favorites is Lovran but it is becoming more popular because the TV show Hotel Portofino is filmed there. It substitutes for Italy.

Northern Croatia (all of Croatia) is heaving with people in July. Every corner is packed with people. Quietest places we have found are on the islands of Cres and Krk.

Don’t over look the Island of Rab. They have a sand beach.
